Monthly Class of '70 Outings - next dinner Tuesday, September 30th, at The Chophouse, 9519 E. Market St at 5 pm

atVernons8/26/25

We had a group of 17 in August at Vernon's, and the food was delicious, as usual- thanks to Shandra for handling our orders. Sharyn provided cards for all to sign, and will send them to 5 classmates letting them know we're thinking of them. No group photo taken this evening, but check out more pics that Leslie posts on our Facebook page, and try to join us next month at The Chophouse - at 5 pm!

atCandywood7/29/25

Candywood Wine Cellar didn't disappoint- great food, great friends, and a great time had by all 24 who came! Hope to see more classmates next month at Vernon's!

At The Chophouse 6/29/25

atOCharley's5/27/25

At O'Charley's in May we had a group of nineteen and were glad to see Bob Swindler as he was in town from Florida for a few weeks. Thanks to our two excellent and patient waitresses- we know it's hard to get us to stop mingling and sit down to order! Sharyn gave a heartfelt memorial tribute to classmate Ed King who died earlier this month, and shared the sad news that Lynne Offerdahl's brother Gary just passed away. But Sharyn also had good news after her own recent health scares. Rick Taylor offered to set up next month's outing at The Chophouse, where we were encouraged to come an hour earlier than usual. So remember to mark your calendars for 5 pm on June 24th and check out more photos that Leslie posts to our Facebook group.

Ps - Many thanks again to Sharyn Sibera for her caring memorials and to Leslie Cornicello for updating our group on Facebook!

at Giorgio's4//29/25

Twenty-three came in April to Giorgio's where we again enjoyed great food and excellent service and signed get well cards for several classmates. We were happy to see Katerina and Don Terpak this month. Check out the photos Leslie posted on our Facebook group, and please try to join us in May at O'Charley's.

AtCafe422Mar2025

Sixteen came in March to Cafe 422 where we were welcomed and seated in a private alcove off the bar (even though we'd forgotten to tell them our group was coming!) The owner called in Tiffany to come serve us, and fortunately the kitchen was well staffed for a Tuesday as there was another large group that night. It was great to see John Egan who drove from Cleveland, and Lynne Offerdahl who drives from Chardon, plus all the usual local attendees, and the food was delicious as always. Check out more photos which Leslie posts on our Facebook group and please join us next month at Giorgios.

AtBuenaVistaFeb25

There were eighteen of us in February at Buena Vista Cafe for great food and conversation. Next month we'll gather at Cafe 422 - hope you'll join us!

AtGiorgios1:28:25

Sixteen regulars braved the cold in January at Giorgio's for the usual good food and fun socializing. Sharyn had a memorial tribute for classmate Karen Metea Thompson who passed away last week. Sharyn also provided get well and sympathy cards for all to sign for Randy Telshaw (eye surgery) and Anita Stocz (brother Al died). As always, you can find more pics on our FB Class of 70 group, and we hope to see more faces in February at Buena Vista!

atVernons11/26/24

There were 20 again this month at Vernon's Cafe for pre-Thanksgiving dining out. Great food and our exceptional waitress Chloe made for an enjoyable evening. Catch more photos that Leslie posted on our class Facebook group. As December's last Tuesday falls on New Year's Eve, we will skip next month and meet again in January. Happy holidays to all!

at Sunrise 10/29/24

Above the 20 classmates who came in October to Sunrise Inn where we checked out the newly remodeled banquet room for a possible future get-together. Below, most of the group of 17 who made it to StoneYard Grille and Tavern in Niles in September. We enjoyed good food and were served with smiles by Cassandra and Mackenzie (also had the enclosed patio to ourselves). See more pics of both outings that Leslie posted to our Class of '70 group on Facebook, and try to join us next month.

There were 25 of us in August at Giorgios. It was a very busy night for the restaurant, but our waitress Gabriella did a great job even with a short-staffed kitchen. It was nice to see Jane Mrus and Denise May, as well as Jeff Spencer's wife Helen, along with the usual attendees. It was too dark for a group shot, but Leslie posted several more pics on Facebook. This month we'll gather again at StoneYard Grill in downtown Niles on Tuesday the 24th- hope you can join us!

At Sunrise in July we had 24 including Fred and Dee Dziedzic, who were in from Kansas City for their yearly camping trip. We helped Patty Minotti McBride celebrate her birthday and Rick Grove finally was able to send a toad balloon aloft in memory of Tom Thompson. We were missing Ted who'd had a scary accident on his motorcycle in North Carolina. Thankfully he's doing ok and miraculously escaped with only cracked ribs and poison ivy- but his bike was not so lucky. No group shot was taken this month, so catch the photos Leslie posted on FB. and try to join us in August at Giorgio's.

at Sunrise 7/30/24

There were twenty-seven in June at Cafe 422 and we were happy to see Dino Theofilos and meet his fiance Angel who were up from Florida for her father's surgery. Denise and Phil May are also back in town after wintering in sunny Florida so good chance we'll see them again before they return south. Our waitress Jessica at Cafe 422 was terrific, and it was a very enjoyable evening for all. Check out more photos Leslie posts on Facebook and please join us next month at Sunrise Inn.

at Giorgio's 5/28/24

Above - the group in May out back of Giorgio's where we attempted to light a lantern and send it heavenward in memory of Tom Thompson. Ted's blowtorch set it afire instead! Thanks to Theresa (Tom's widow) for joining us again and buying pizza appetizers for the group. Twenty-four enjoyed good food and company at Giorgio's, and our server, Julie, did a great job. Check out more photos on FB and join us if you can, next month at Cafe 422.

We had a group of eighteen in April at Anejo Mexican Restaurant in Howland, including Wendi Border Henderson who has recently moved back to our area from Virginia and will attend our monthly dinners regularly now. Good food and an accommodating staff made for a fun night out - check out Leslie's pics on FB, and plan to join us next time at Giorgio's (the day after Memorial Day).

atAnejo4/30/24

Twenty-one of the usual suspects showed up in March at O'Charley's for a good time, good food and Easter Peeps (thanks to Sharyn). Again, we had a terrific waitress Stephanie, handling our orders (she was finally able to snap a group shot for us after we gathered near the restrooms!) Check out more photos Leslie posted on FB. Next month we'll meet at Anejo, the new Mexican restaurant in the plaza across from Up a Creek in Howland. Looking forward to trying the most recent dining establishment to make a go of it in this spot. Online reviews are excellent. Hope to see you in April.

AtO'Charley's3:36:24

We had a lively group of 27 for delicious food in February at Buena Vista Cafe, and were happy to welcome Theresa Thompson (Tommy Thompson's widow) for a special remembrance of him. Thank you to Sharyn, Ted, Jeff Myers, Patty Minotti McBride (Tom's cousin) and everyone else who shared memories or helped in some way. Sharyn also had a get well card for all to sign for Ed King who was recently in the hospital. We were also happy to see Lynne Offerdahl (who drives from Chardon) and John Egan (from Cleveland), plus Vivian Walters Morgan who joined us again before she makes her move to North Carolina. Thanks to BV waitress Amber who pleasantly handled orders for our entire group, and to Ted for the pizza appetizers, Sharyn for the chocolates, and Leslie for posting many more pics on FB! Hope to see many more classmates next month.

atBuenaVistaFeb24

There were 25 in attendance at Cafe 422 in January for great food and personable service, and we were happy to welcome Peggy Brocken Peters to our monthly get-together for the first time (she promised it won't be the last). Our efficient waitress Jessica patiently handled orders for the entire room and tried to capture all of us in this group shot -though it looks like Peggy tried to hide! As always, check out more pics Leslie posts on Facebook. Mike Zador has made reservations for our group at Buena Vista Cafe in February - hope many more will join us this month.

AtCafe422-1/29/24

Giorgio's post-Christmas dinner had 22 in attendance. What a great turnout for fine food and holiday camaraderie! Next month we'll meet at Cafe 422 - hope everyone enjoys a safe and festive New Year's Eve, and hope to see you in 2024!

atGiorgios12:26:23

At Sunrise Inn in November it was great to see Rick and Dee Dziedzic who'd returned from Kansas City for Thanksgiving. It was especially wonderful to see Rick doing so well after his recent surgery. We were also glad to have Denny Brubaker join us for the first time, and he's promised to come in the future and bring his wife. Again, waiter Mac handled all service for our group, but we didn't request a group photo this time, so be sure to check out more pics Leslie posted on Facebook.

atSunrise11/28/23

We had a good time at the new Urban Tap and Distillery in downtown Warren on a warm October night. The owners have made great updates to the building, with many more planned here and to the former warehouse next door which will soon house their distillery. Next up on Jeff's to-do list- install the already purchased sound baffles so we hearing challenged old timers can more easily converse (did I mention the place was jumping?) Thanks to our good natured waitress and the 20 or so usual suspects that came. No group shot was taken, but check out Ted's crazy Halloween look with Tom and Charlene Burick below, and find more pics Leslie posted on our Class of 70 Facebook group.

AtUrbanTap10/24/23

September was a fun dinner with our witty and personable waiter Mac at Sunrise Inn who hopped right up on a chair to snap a group photo at the end of the evening after handling all service. We welcomed Cindy Compton Davis who came for the first time, and Judy's cousin Cliff and good friend Tom who'd helped with the picnic in August. Next month we'll try the new Urban Tap just down the road from Sunrise which Jeff Myers has been helping renovate for several months. We have changed the date to the 24th as most townships in Trumbull County will be doing Trick or Treat on the 31st. We hope many more classmates will join us in October- Halloween costumes still welcome!

It was a busy end of summer with two outings in August - a picnic at Judy Anderson's Redbrook boat club in Ashtabula on Saturday the 26th plus our regular last Tuesday outing at Iron House Bar and Grille in Cortland on the 29th. Many thanks to Judy and her helpful crew for graciously hosting us for a lovely day on Lake Erie. Close to 40 people came to one gathering or the other, with several making it to both. It was great to see Vivian Walters Morgan and Dorothy Simpson White who made a surprise appearance Tuesday night, and Dave Frazier, who made a rare appearance on Saturday- we'd love to see all of you more often. We hope many more classmates will join us in September at Sunrise Inn.

Twenty-four of us enjoyed great food and service with our excellent waitress Brittany at Giorgios July 25th. We heard from Sharyn that Jane Laughlin Mrus' husband John died on July 4th, and that Fred Dziedzic will be undergoing surgery soon. We all signed cards for both. Ted updated us on the picnic planned for the last Saturday in August at Judy Lynn's Lake Erie boat club in Ashtabula.

atCafe422 6:27:23

We had a great group June 27th at Cafe 422, including first time attendees Pam Rumancik and Charlene Hepburn Burick and husband Tom. The food and service were terrific - we hope many more classmates will join us this month at Georgio's, or when we meet for a special picnic outing at Judy Anderson's place on Lake Erie in August.

At Sunrise 5/30/23

At Sunrise guys

On May 30th twenty-three classmates/spouses came on a lovely spring evening to Sunrise Inn. Many of the usual attendees were there, plus Jeff Spencer who showed up for the first time to a monthly dinner. Sharyn gave a heartfelt memorial remembrance of Deb Grocott Gilger, who planned Howland Class of '69 monthly get-togethers for many years, and who'd helped plan the Multi-Year Reunions in 2010 and 2015. Deb's son and daughter-in-law popped in from their post-funeral dinner in the back room (Deb and Bruce were long-time Sunrise customers). Tim Thirion and Judy Anderson also came, and Judy invited everyone to a picnic for the August outing at her place in Ashtabula and agreed to allow others to bring side dishes to share. Check out additional photos Leslie posted on our Class of '70 Facebook page.

At Olive Garden4/25/23

At Olive Garden#2

Seventeen came in April to Olive Garden and gave a heartfelt sendoff to Fred and Dee Dziedzic before their move to Kansas City to live nearer their son. Many thanks again to Sharyn for ordering a farewell cake, and to Patty McBride for embroidering tiger shirts for Fred and Dee. Our group had another exceptional waitress and delicious meals at Olive Garden. Please join us if you're able next month and check out the photos Leslie posts on Facebook.

AtOCharley's

There were 24 who came in March to O'Charley's (photo above) near Eastwood Mall including Jeff Myers' wife Darlene for the first time. We give a round of applause to Angelica, our hard-working waitress who served our group seated (and frequently standing!) in a long, narrow space. She delivered meals with good humor and patience.

Twenty-two came to Iron House Bar and Grille in Cortland February 28th where Pam Warzala's son Justin is the manager. He and waitress Kayla did a great job tending to our group and we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately no group shot was taken, so be sure to check out the photos Leslie posts on our class of '70 Facebook page.

AtSunrise-right

At Sunrise Inn

We had 20 classmates and 7 spouse/guests at Sunrise Inn January 31st, but our photographer didn't manage to fit everyone in one shot so two shown above. Mike B.'s brother Bill Birskovich (class of '71) drove from PA to join us later. We had the entire west room and waitress Lisa did a great job serving us.

AtBuenaVistaDec22

The group at Buena Vista Cafe for our December outing. We were happy to have Mike Birskovich join us for the first time!

AtGiorgiosNov2022

Twenty of the usual suspects got together at Giorgio's for another fun outing in Nov. Sharyn announced that Wayne Clagett had died on Saturday after a long illness but she'd heard from his wife that he'd brightened at a card she had recently sent to him. Sending deepest condolences to his family. The In Memoriam page has been updated and Sharyn will do a memorial remembrance at our December get-together at Buena Vista.

AtCafe422-10:25:22

We had 28 classmates/guests in October at Cafe 422, with first time attendee Jackie Frye Sladovic who was in town from Arizona to visit her mom and Sue Moore Joy ('69) as Leslie's guest. Thanks to our terrific server Lauren for doing such a great job and to Judy Anderson for providing another door prize basket (she says she's clearing out her house!). This month Rose Foley was the lucky winner, last month it was Laura Dillon. Good food, great fun - come join us next month at Giorgio's if you can, and check out more photos Leslie posted on our FB group.

At Giuseppe's 9/27/22

30 classmates and guests came to Giuseppe's Italian Market (in former Alberini's restaurant building) for our September 27th outing. The staff kept the market open late just for our group. Besides the regular attendees, we were happy to finally have Dave Frazier join us, and to again see Jane Mrus who flew in from Florida (she choose an excellent time to leave!) Sending best wishes to our many other classmates living in Florida and along the SW coast - we hope you all were able to escape the worst of Hurricane Ian's wrath. Many thanks again to Leslie Cornicello for posting more pics on our Facebook group page, and to Ted for ordering 3 pizzas to be served as appetizers to our group - yum!

Don & Katerina Terpak

What a wonderful evening 36 classmates/spouses had at Kathy Argeras Terpak's home for our August outing. She and husband Don graciously hosted and cooked a delicious dinner of pulled pork sliders with homemade rolls, marinated grilled chicken breast, penne pasta with sun dried tomatoes in a light cream sauce, roasted Redskin potatoes w/ garlic butter and Parmesan, Greek salad, homemade Italian bread, Texas sheet cake, cream puffs, and non-alcoholic Sangria. Kathy is an amazing cook as is her sous chef and videographer Don (check out her cooking demonstration videos on YouTube - Cooking With Katerina). Thank you so much for your hospitality, Kathy and Don!

AtLeos7:26:22

Twenty-five came in July to Leo's Ristorante in Howland including a few classmates we haven't seen for awhile. It was great seeing Mike Opalka and wife Suzanne who are in town for a few weeks plus Darlene Sayers who's here for the summer from Florida. Judy Anderson drove from Geneva, John Egan from Cleveland, and we're happy Janice Setting and Anita Stocz were able to come. We hope many more classmates who live right here in the area will join us next month. Many thanks again to Leslie for posting pics on our FB group page, to Sharyn for her memorial tributes, and to Ted for keeping these monthly outings going!

AtIronHouse6/28/22

We had a fun outing at Iron House Bar and Grill in Cortland on June 28 including a Classic Car Night. Weather was perfect for the 29 who came. Thanks to Bob Petenatti, Don Mills, Rick Grove, Ray Williams and John Monolakis ('69) for bringing their classic beauties, and to all who came in whatever vehicle got them there. You can check out more pics Leslie posted on Class of '70 facebook group.

Sadly, another classmate, Ron Grim, passed away June 20. Deepest condolences to his wife of 52 years, Faye Leftheris' sister Ann, and family. The In Memoriam page has been updated. If you know a classmate who has died but isn't included here, please email Howland1970.reunion@gmail.com with date of death if possible. Again, many thanks to Sharyn Sibera for her memorial remembrances of deceased classmates at our monthly get-togethers.
